FRAMINGHAM —

More than 30 local artists will open their studio doors to the public for an exhibition and shopping today and tomorrow during the Fountain Street Studios "2009 Holiday Stroll."

Fountain Street Studios is a community of artists located in the historic Bancroft Building on Framingham's Southside. The studios include a multitude of styles and media within a group of resident artists. Some make art for a living and others do it for fun.

The Holiday Stroll features greeting cards, paintings, sculpture, photography, jewelry, pottery and fabric arts.

"It's a whole spectrum of people opening their doors," said Cheryl Clinton, one of the artists.

Clinton taught drawing and painting for children for 12 years at the Danforth Museum.

Last year, the Fountain Street Studio artists began the Friday Strolls, which happen from 6 to 9 p.m. on the second Friday of each month from September to May.

"We decided to do this in an effort to open our working spaces to the public," said Clinton, "Fine art has a important place in our lives. (It) makes you think outside the box. It gets you to see how someone else sees the world."

Pam Kubbins and Jodie Apeseche, who are business partners and featured artists, will be donating a percentage of their sales to the Metrowest Interfaith Hospitality Network.

They'll be exhibiting handmade cards, paintings and exotic scarves. Apeseche said that the event is an opportunity for the community to support local artists.

"Money spent here goes back to the community," Kubbins said.

The Holiday Stoll hours today are 6 to 9 p.m. Tomorrow's hours are from 11 a.m to 5 p.m.
